Human Services

Al has long advocated for full funding for human services in Dane County. There are thousands of non-profit workers in Dane County. For adult mental
health, Dane County uses purchase of services agencies. Al believes that we:

Equity for non-profit service workers. We need to build up pay and
benefits so that these workers get comparable pay and benefits to those
received by Dane County employees.

Assessment and treatment that is evidence-based and effective. This is needed to solve peoples’ problems in a lasting way. The jail should not beĀ the primary provider of mental health services. We need to stop the
painful cycle where people get in trouble, end up in jail, are released, and return to the jail.

Community-based services. We need to support people where they live and work to help them improve their lives, to effect permanent rehabilitation. We need to implement cost-effective, innovative treatments.
